Home Refurbishment Newnham, Cambridge

We were contacted by prospective purchasers of a terraced house to refurbish and modernise the property, which had previously been 2 flats. There was no central heating, a new electrical system was needed, historic movement had led to uneven ceilings and misshapen door frames. The decor was also looking very tired indeed.

The project

About the project

Of major concern to our clients was the speed with which the work could be carried out so they could move out of their rental property at the end of their existing tenancy.

We were able to gear up for the task and commence work within 4 weeks of our initial meeting, starting work on the day the purchase of the property was completed.  Within those 4 weeks we worked with the clients on specifying everything from structural alterations to paint colours.

The project included:

  • Demolition of all internal walls in rear addition and introduction of steel support for central chimney to create a large kitchen dining room at the rear of the house.
  • Fitting of a large panoramic window in this addition to flood the area with light.
  • Full rewire of entire house to Part P specification.
  • Removal of all upstairs ceilings and replacement with walk on joists.
  • Fitting of new central heating system.
  • Full replaster.
  • Sanding and staining of floors throughout.
  • Full redecoration.

We completed the works two weeks before our clients were due to move in.
